On 4 May 2025, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Dana Goldfinča, submitted credentials to the Deputy Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani. Dana Goldfinča is the first Ambassador of Latvia accredited to the State of Qatar.
As part of her accreditation visit, the Ambassador met with the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a discussion on opportunities for cooperation in economy and other fields. Concerning economy, the Qatari officials expressed in-depth interest in the health, medical, and technology sectors, and made note of potential in the areas of higher education, research and innovation.
In an exchange of views on the current global and regional security situation the ways were considered to strengthen political dialogue between Latvia and Qatar, which is an important mediator at both regional and global level.
