Vēstnieks Vilmārs Heniņš iesniedza akreditācijas vēstuli Kosovas Republikas Prezidentei Vjosai Osmani-Sadriu

On 5 June 2025, in Pristina, Kosovo, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Vilmārs Heniņš, submitted his credentials to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani Sidriu.

During the meeting, the Ambassador made note of the regular political dialogue between the two countries and expressed support for Kosovo’s integration into the European Union and other international organisations. The Ambassador thanked the President for the warm welcome extended to the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs on his visit to Kosovo this past 20 March. Vilmārs Heniņš confirmed that Latvia’s was ready to continue sharing its experience of EU integration.

The President of Kosovo expressed appreciation for the friendly relations and close cooperation between Latvia and Kosovo, while noting that Kosovo sees Latvia as a strong partner that has supported statebuilding in Kosovo and its membership of international organisations. The President expressed her gratitude for the presence of Latvian soldiers in Kosovo and a continued support for the stability of Kosovo and the region.

As part of his accreditation visit, the Ambassador met with the Director General of the Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency, KIESA, Zef Dedaj, for a discussion on opportunities for developing economic cooperation.

While in Kosovo, the Ambassador visited the operational base for the Latvian troops of the NATO-led KFOR (Kosovo Force), where he met with the contingent’s commanding officers. The Ambassador also had a meeting with the Honorary Consul of Latvia, Ardian Hoxha.

The Latvian Ambassador resides in Prague, the Czech Republic.
