On 12 August 2025, in an official ceremony at Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, presented credentials to the incoming Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Austria, Ingrīda Levrence.
Ingrīda Levrence began her career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991 at the Permanent Representation of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia in Moscow, and later, as Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Russian Federation. She worked in the Planning Group and the Inspectorate, has been appointed Under Secretary of State, and headed the Security Policy and International Organisations Directorate.
Ingrīda Levrence has represented Latvia’s interests in Belarus in the capacity of Chargé d’Affaires, and was later posted as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the European Union, the People’s Republic of China, and Georgia.
She has served as non-resident Ambassador to Mongolia, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the United Mexican States, and the Republic of Armenia.
Since 2022 – Under-Secretary of State for European Affairs.
For her professional contribution, the Ambassador has received a Certificate of Merit from the Cabinet, a Certificate of Gratitude from the Prime Minister, and a Certificate of Merit from the Presidium of the Saeima (the Latvian Parliament).
Ingrīda Levrence holds a Master of Humanities degree in philology from the University of Latvia. She continued her professional development at Stanford University and the Baltic Defence College in Estonia.
The Ambassador speaks German, English, Russian, French, Spanish, Catalan, Lithuanian, and Belarusian.
In her ambassadorial posting, Ingrīda Levrence succeeds Guna Japiņa, who has been representing Latvia’s interests in Austria since 2021.
