On 12 August 2025, in an official ceremony at Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, presented credentials to the incoming Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the State of Israel, Gints Serafinovičs.
Gints Serafinovičs began his career at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. He has worked as Vice-Consul at the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Russian Federation and as Consul at the Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Pskov. He then took up positions at the Press Centre of the Information and Public Relations Department and the External Economic Relations Promotion Division of the Foreign Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Promotion Department.
Gints Serafinovičs has served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassies of Latvia in Belarus and Hungary.
Since 2023, he has held the post of the Head of the Sanctions Division at the Legal Department.
The Ambassador has received a bachelor of arts degree at the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the University of Latvia and a master’s degree at the Turība University, Riga, with qualifications in Business and Public Administration.
In his present posting, Gints Serafinovičs succeeds Aivars Groza, who has been Ambassador to Israel since 2020.
