The strong bipartisan support in the U.S. Senate for continued military assistance funding to the Baltic States is a clear affirmation of our strategic partnership. The United States and the Baltic States share a common understanding of the need to further deepen our defence cooperation.

This is an important step. The decision has now been taken by both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The next stage of the process requires both chambers of Congress to agree on the final version of the bill. Once that has been done, the decision to enact the law will be made by the U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Baltic States have proven to be reliable allies of the United States. In 2026, we will invest 5% of GDP in defence. Since taking office, I have made seven working visits to the United States. During meetings in various formats, U.S. officials have emphasised that the Baltic States are exemplary allies.
