On 14 April 2026, during a formal ceremony at Riga Castle, President Edgars Rinkēvičs presented a letter of credence to Ieva Cēsniece, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Hellenic Republic.

Ieva Cēsniece began her career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004. She has worked in the Baltic, Nordic Countries and Regional Cooperation Division of the European Department, as well as in the Human Resources Planning and Development Division of the Human Resources Department. She also served as Head of the Arms Control Division in the Security Policy Department. During her diplomatic career, she has been posted to the Latvian embassies in Türkiye and Lithuania. Since 2020, she has served as Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department.

She holds a Master’s degree in Law from Riga Graduate School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Riga Stradiņš University.

In the second half of this year, Ieva Cēsniece will succeed Ieva Briede, who has served as Latvia’s Ambassador to Greece since 2022.
