On 23 January 2020, Alda Vanaga, the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia, met in Copenhagen with the Speaker of Parliament (Folketinget) of the Kingdom of Denmark, Henrik Dam Kristensen, in order to convey the resolution of the Latvian Parliament (Saeima) concerning the extradition case of Kristīne Misāne.
Henrik Dam Kristensen said that he would give the Saeima resolution for review to relevant commissions of the Danish Parliament. Underlining the seriousness of the situation, the Speaker of the Parliament noted that neither he nor the Danish Parliament can intervene in the work of Danish institutions of justice and law enforcement.
Ambassador Vanaga confirmed that Latvia will continue to work on this case using all possible ways to seek a positive solution so that Kristīne Misāne will not be extradited to South Africa.
