On 31 January, the Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Administrative Director Atis Lots, took part in the opening of the International Travel Trade Fair Balttour 2020.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is represented at the fair for the 13th consecutive year.

The daily work of the consular service demonstrates that Latvian travellers increasingly choose far-away and exotic countries as their destination. In order to increase their sense of security and safety while travelling, Latvian tourists are cordially invited to visit the Foreign Ministry’s TRAVEL SAFELY stand which focuses special attention on their safety, said Atis Lots.

During all three days of the fair, those visiting the stand will be able to ask questions to representatives and partners from the Latvian Insurers Association, who will give advice on insurance. On Saturday, 1 February, from 10.00 to 14.00, the National Health Service will offer the opportunity to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), and from 14.00 to 18.00, the Latvian Council of Sworn Notaries will inform visitors about how to draw up children’s travel documents.

The International Travel Trade Fair Balttour 2020 is taking place at the Ķīpsala Exhibition Centre from 31 January to 2 February at the Ķīpsala Exhibition Centre. It is the most important annual event in the Baltic States tourism sector for travellers and professionals. The fair offers tours to almost 200 countries.
