On 8 January 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, spoke by phone with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Vadym Prystaiko.
Edgars Rinkēvičs offered condolences to his colleague concerning the crash of a Ukraine airlines plane near Tehran in which 176 citizens of seven countries lost their lives.
Both ministers agreed that the causes of the tragic crash should be investigated by independent international experts in a transparent manner.
