On 16 May 2026, the Ambassador of Latvia to the Kingdom of Spain, Jānis Zlamets, presented his credentials to the Co-Prince of Andorra and Archbishop of Urgell, the Most Reverend Joan-Enric Vives Sicília, thereby becoming non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Principality of Andorra. The ceremony took place at the Co-Prince’s Episcopal Palace in the city of La Seu d’Urgell, with participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Andorra, Imma Tor Faus.
The Ambassador had a conversation with the Co-prince of Andorra and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in which the officials addressed bilateral relations between Latvia and Andorra and possibilities for their further development, while underlining the increasing importance of cooperation between small countries in today’s changeable international environment. Successful cooperation with Andorra in international organisations was particularly appreciated.

Diplomatic relations between Latvia and Andorra were established on 27 August 1996.
