On 16 September 2025, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the State of Israel, Gints Serafinovičs, presented his letters of credence to the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog.

The President welcomed Gints Serafinovičs to Israel upon assuming his duties as Ambassador. At the meeting, the officials commended the active bilateral political dialogue and the close contacts between the people, governments and parliaments of the two countries.

Ambassador Serafinovičs voiced his commitment to promoting economic cooperation between the two countries, while the President of Israel welcomed Latvia’s political support and solidarity demonstrated to the Israeli people after the terrorist attacks of 7 October 2023.

The President of Israel recalled with satisfaction his recent visit to Latvia this past August and reiterated an invitation to the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs to visit Israel.

In his present posting, Gints Serafinovičs succeeds Aivars Groza, who has been Ambassador to Israel since 2020.
