On 30 June 2026, at a Business Forum organised by the US Embassy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, highlighted the close and growing bilateral relations between Latvia and the United States. The Minister invited US entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities Latvia offers for investment and joint projects, and to build long-term cooperation, particularly in the fields of innovation, energy, technology and the defence industry.
At the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the US Ambassador for her personal contribution to organising the Business Forum and congratulated the United States on the 250th anniversary of its independence.
Baiba Braže emphasised that security and economic growth are closely linked and that Latvia, as a reliable NATO ally, is committed to investing 5% of its GDP in defence over the long term, thereby ensuring a stable and predictable environment for business.
The Minister also noted that cooperation between Latvian and US companies continues to expand and that successful collaborative projects in drone manufacturing and technology demonstrate Latvia’s capacity for innovation and the high calibre of its engineers. Baiba Braže also highlighted Latvia’s investment environment, which is highly regarded by international investors.
The Minister emphasised that EU–US economic ties are strategically indispensable and are based on resource diversification, new technologies and resilient supply chains. Latvia is interested in stable, fair and predictable transatlantic trade relations.
The Business Forum was organised by the US Embassy in Latvia to promote closer economic cooperation between the two countries and to introduce US entrepreneurs to Latvia’s business and investment environment. The event brought together entrepreneurs from a range of sectors in Latvia and the US, as well as representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) and the Latvian American Chamber of Commerce.
