On 25 September 2025, Riga hosted political consultations between Latvia and Thailand. The Bilateral Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Katarina Plātere, and the Director General of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Krongkanit Rakcharoen, discussed bilateral relations, prospects for economic and trade cooperation, and topics high on the international and regional security agendas.
The officials expressed interest in maintaining an active political dialogue, develop various directions for cooperation in business and trade, as well as highlighting the importance of cooperation between the European Union and Thailand. Views were also exchanged on the strengthening of dialogue in international organizations, including Latvia’s upcoming term of membership of the UN Security Council in 2026-2027.
The previous political consultations were hosted by Thailand in 2023.
