On 15 and 16 July 2025, during a working visit to the United States, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže had discussions with public officials, businesspeople, and opinion leaders on the international security situation, further support to Ukraine, and containment of Russia.
The Minister delivered a speech at the prestigious Aspen Security Forum, in a discussion titled “Tanks But No Tanks: The Future of European Defense”. Baiba Braže is the first Latvian politician to speak at this event.
“The Allies have everything they need to deal with the threat posed by Russia – strength, leadership and commitment to investing in their defence capabilities, to support Ukraine and weaken Russia. The U.S. role is crucial to maintain strong support for Ukraine and comprehensive pressure on Russia. There is no indication on the part of Russia that it is ready for peace – its intentions have not changed, and it is not interested in meaningful peace talks. Russia must be pressured to peace by force and through sanctions. Sanctions are working – the value of the ruble is falling, inflation soars, there are very high interest rates and a stagnant war economy. We fully support U.S, President Trump’s efforts to put pressure on Russia and achieve peace,” the Foreign Minister Baiba Braže pointed out during her visit.
The Minister met with Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan, the representatives of the Radia energy company and companies Defcon AI, MasterCard, Crowdstrike, and Anduril Industries, the Aspen Strategy Group think tank, as well as the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Colorado, Aivars Ziediņš.
Baiba Braže gave interviews to POLITICO U.S., The Wall Street Journal and CNN International.
