Latvijas un Norvēģijas karogi

On 19 March 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will pay a working visit to Oslo, in the Kingdom of Norway. The aim of the visit is to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the economy, security, and the defence industry – particularly in the field of drone technology – as well as to share Latvia’s experience in new technologies and innovation, and to promote closer cooperation between Latvia and Norway in education. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs will deliver a speech at the Latvia–Norway Drone Forum. The event is organised by the Embassy of Latvia in Oslo and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), in cooperation with the Norwegian Defence Industry Association. More than 20 Latvian companies from the drone industry will participate in the forum. 

At the international Construction Days conference, Baiba Braže will meet with Latvian companies.  

At the Norwegian Business School, one of the largest business schools in Europe, Baiba Braže will discuss Latvia’s experience and achievements in areas such as quantum, drone, and 5G/6G technologies and innovation with Vice-Rector Dr Thomas Hoholm, Associate Professor Jānis Bērziņš, and students from Latvia. 

The Minister will give interviews to Norwegian media outlets.

Background information

  • Norway is the eight-largest foreign investor in Latvia.
  • Norway is a reliable and important trading partner for Latvia. In 2025, total foreign trade turnover with Norway was 687.1 million euros (a 1.9% increase compared to 2024).
  • ⁠Latvia’s main exports to Norway are metal and wood products, as well as food industry products.
