On 16 October 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, during her working visit to Lithuania. The Ministers will discuss the bilateral cooperation between Latvia and Lithuania, strengthening of regional security and defence, support for Ukraine, containment of Russia, including work on the 19th round of sanctions. The meeting will also focus on issues on the EU agenda – work on the next EU multiannual budget and the EU enlargement process, as well as the situation in the Middle East.

At a formal ceremony, the Ministers will present the annual Balts’ Award of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Lithuania for outstanding achievements in research, preservation and strengthening of the Baltic heritage. Nine candidates were nominated for the award this year. The award has been presented since 2018, making a significant contribution to the research and promotion of Baltic heritage.

Following the bilateral meeting, Baiba Braže will meet with the President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group, Manfred Weber, and will address a discussion on challenges to European security.

For the attention of the media: on Thursday, 16 October, at 10:30, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Lithuania will hold a joint press briefing. It will be broadcast live on the Youtube channel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania: Press conference: Foreign Ministers of Lithuania and Latvia in Lithuanian and English.
