On 4 November 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže will pay a working visit to the Netherlands. The visit will focus on strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defence capabilities, security along the Alliance’s eastern flank, support for Ukraine and transatlantic cooperation.
Baiba Braže will visit NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum and meet with its commander, General Ingo Gerhartz. The talks are expected to focus on the development of NATO’s defence plans, strengthening the Allied presence and military readiness, as well as addressing the threats posed by Russia. The Minister will also visit the Command’s Operations Centre and give interviews to international media outlets.
During the visit, the Minister will meet with Tom Berendsen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, and take part in an informal meeting of foreign ministers from like-minded countries, organised by the Dutch and German foreign ministers. The meeting is expected to cover Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the security situation in the Middle East and the strengthening of transatlantic relations.
