On 19 November 2025, in an accreditation ceremony at Hofburg Palace in Vienna, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Austria, Ingrīda Levrence, presented her credentials to the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Dr Alexander Van der Bellen.
In a conversation with the Federal President Van der Bellen, Ambassador Levrence emphasized that Latvia and Austria are engaged in an intensive bilateral dialogue, and she reiterated an invitation from the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, to the President of Austria to visit Latvia.
The Ambassador also noted that Latvia and Austria are united by a shared commitment to European values and a rules-based international order.
“A rules-based international order is of crucial importance to Latvia and Austria as small countries,” the Ambassador noted.
Ambassador Ingrīda Levrence took up her duties in Austria on 1 September 2025, succeeding Ambassador Guna Japiņa, who had represented Latvia’s interests in Austria since 2021.
