On 7 October 2025, in Oslo, Dāvis Daudzvārdis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Kingdom of Norway, presented his letter of credence to King Harald V of Norway in a formal ceremony.

The Ambassador conveyed greetings from the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, to King Harald V. Dāvis Daudzvārdis particularly emphasised the close bilateral dialogue between the two countries and its positive development over the last decade, praising the contribution of King Harald V and Crown Prince Haakon’s previous visits to Latvia and inviting representatives of the Royal Family to visit Latvia again. The Ambassador also emphasised the excellent relations between Latvia and Norway in regional and international formats, and expressed his commitment to continue deepening economic cooperation between the two countries, which has great potential for development.

It is important to develop mutual contacts between the people of Latvia and Norway in culture, education, science, sports, and other areas. During their conversation, the King and the Ambassador noted the significant contribution made by conductor Mariss Jansons to the development of the Oslo Philharmonic. Both the King and the Ambassador highly appreciated the activities and self-organisation of the Latvian diaspora in Norway, which is important not only for the preservation of the Latvian language and culture, but also for the development of cooperation with Norway at the state, municipal and human levels.

The King Harald V extended his greetings to the President of Latvia and wished the Ambassador to Norway both positive impressions and success in his work.

Since 1996, when the Embassy of Latvia was opened in Oslo, Ambassador Dāvis Daudzvārdis is the eighth residing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Norway.
