On 13 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, met with members of the Foreign Policy Experts Council, business, youth organizations, NGOs and social partners to discuss and hear their opinions on the most important foreign policy related developments of the year, Latvia’s current achievements and plans for the coming year.

The Minister emphasized that the three main directions of Latvia’s foreign policy remain unchanged: strengthening Latvia’s security and the rules-based international order; promoting economic growth, resilience and increasing the EU’s competitiveness and global influence; protecting the interests of Latvian citizens, engaging society in the implementation of foreign policy, and a more effective use of the diaspora potential.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministers’ annual report is to reflect the changing reality, and the security aspect will be present in virtually all priority directions of foreign policy. The document will broadly reflect the achievements of Latvia in the field of new technologies. The Foreign Service will continue to use all the instruments at its disposal to represent Latvia’s economic interests, especially to increase the share of innovative and new technologies in exports. Support for entrepreneurs in promoting their visibility, developing new markets and attracting foreign investments and partners is a priority for the Foreign Service.

The Foreign Policy Experts Council, business, youth organizations, NGOs and social partners are important partners to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when it comes to discussing and evaluating what has been accomplished and provide ideas for future work.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Saeima, the annual report of the Minister of Foreign Affairs reflects the completed and planned activities in the national foreign policy, including information on the European Union topics. It is coordinated with the Prime Minister and submitted to the Saeima. The report is reviewed and debated at the regular session of the Saeima closest to the day of the international (de jure) recognition of the Republic of Latvia.

Representatives from 11 cooperation partner organizations participated in the meeting.
