Andris Pelšs atklāj Rīgas Juridiskās augstskolas programmas Eiropas tiesībās un ekonomikā ziemas sesiju

On 13 November 2023, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Andris Pelšs opened the third winter session of the 2023 Intensive Programme in European Law and Economics. The programme is co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and the United States of America. The six-week programme, implemented by the Riga Graduate School of Law, will bring together 20 young professionals from Moldova, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

In his address, the State Secretary noted that the programme in a period of six weeks provides participants with an opportunity to get to know the European Union from the Latvian perspective. “I hope that you will be inspired by our achievements and the lessons we have learnt on the way there,” said Andris Pelšs.

The intensive programme takes place in person in Riga. The programme also includes a week-long study visit to Brussels, where participants meet with representatives from various European Union institutions. The programme brings together professionals from public administration, civil society and academia from the partner countries.

The programme is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its development cooperation budget along with funding from the United States of America.

Since 2014, a total of 627 participants from 20 partner countries have graduated from the Riga Graduate School of Law Programme in European Law and Economics. The knowledge and experience gained will be used by the participants to promote development in their countries.
