On 19 April 2023, the Under-Secretary of State at the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Political Director Andžejs Viļumsons welcomed an accreditation visit from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Latvia, Irakli Kurashvili.
The meeting addressed cooperation between Latvia and Georgia. The officials praised the friendly relations between the two countries and they affirmed their interest in the strengthening of mutual trade and in continuing the exchange of high-level visits. Current developments in the domestic policy of Georgia were also discussed, as well as matters related to Georgia’s goal of being granted EU candidate status.
Latvia and Georgia marked the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations on 11 March 2023.
