Ārlietu ministrijas politiskais direktors Andžejs Viļumsons tiekas ar Azerbaidžānas ārlietu ministra vietnieku Farizs Rzajevs (Fariz Rzayev)

On 7 November 2023, Baku hosted the second meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Latvia and Azerbaijan, co-chaired on the part of Latvia by Andžejs Viļumsons, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on the part of Azerbaijan, by Fariz Rzayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting addressed the topics of current importance for bilateral cooperation, with the emphasis on cooperation in economy, transport and logistics. Delegations from the two countries exchanged views on the Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, the dialogue between the European Union and Azerbaijan, and other international issues, including Russia’s war against Ukraine. The participants also looked into matters of partnership between NATO and Azerbaijan.

The previous Strategic Dialogue meeting between Latvia and Azerbaijan took place in Riga in April 2022.

Since 2021, the Latvian Embassy in Azerbaijan has been serving as a NATO Contact Point Embassy.
