 Valsts sekretārs Andris Pelšs pieņem Armēnijas vēstnieku akreditācijas vizītē

On 17 August 2022, the State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, hosted an accreditation visit from the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Latvia, Hovhannes Igityan. During the conversation, the officials expressed their readiness to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries and to continue advancing cooperation between the European Union and Armenia, including in the format of the Eastern Partnership.

The State Secretary and the Ambassador exchanged views on current developments in the region, including Ukraine and the issue of Ukrainian refugees. Andris Pelšs introduced the Ambassador to Latvia’s political, military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine to date. The State Secretary expressed satisfaction with mutual support ahead of elections to the UN Security Council, Latvia being a candidate for 2025 and Armenia – for 2031. Andris Pelšs also drew attention to opportunities for cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies.
