Rīgas konference 2025

From 9 to 11 October 2025, the annual Rīga Conference 2025 will take place for the 20th time. It will bring together influential world leaders and experts from all continents. Among them will be European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius, European Investment Bank Vice-President Karl Nehammer, the Permanent Representative of the US to NATO Matthew G. Whitaker, Former Chair of the Military Committee of NATO Admiral Rob Bauer, as well as the Secretary of International Affairs for the Defence Ministry of Argentina Juan Battaleme, Ambassador of Australia to Belgium, Ambassador to the European Union, NATO and Luxembourg Angus Campbell, and Director of Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence and Ilmin International Relations Institute at Korea University Jae-Seung Lee. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the organisation of the Rīga Conference, which has been held since 2006 by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation (LATO).

8 OCTOBER

- Opening speech by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, at a special event for entrepreneurs (business forum) entitled "Business, Security and Sustainability in an Age of Uncertainty," organised for the first time as part of the Rīga Conference.

 

9 OCTOBER

- At 14:00–15:20: Participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže in the high-level opening panel discussion of the Rīga Conference 2025, entitled What Next on the Road to Peace through Strength?

- Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, with the US Ambassador to NATO, Matthew G. Whitaker.

- Lecture by Edward Luce, Financial Times US Bureau Chief and Chief Commentator, at an event organised by the Isaiah Berlin Society. 

 

10 OCTOBER

- Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže with the European Union Special Envoy for Sanctions David O’Sullivan. With representatives of the State Revenue Service and Customs Board participating in the discussion.

- At 12:00–13:00: participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže in the closing panel discussion of the Rīga Conference 2025, entitled The Future of Multilateralism: The UN’s Evolving Role in a Fragmented World.

- Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže with the European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis.

 

About the RĪGA CONFERENCE

  • The Rīga Conference is an important forum for security and foreign policy in the Northern European region. Over the course of 20 years, it has become a global discussion platform, bringing together prominent Latvian and foreign officials, internationally recognised experts, and media representatives.
  • Since 2006, it has been organised by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation (LATO), with the involvement of a number of foreign and domestic cooperation partners.
