On 10 and 11 December, Artjoms Uršuļskis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the informal meeting of European Union (EU) Ministers for European Affairs, which took place in Lviv, Ukraine. Artjoms Uršuļskis emphasised Latvia’s unwavering support for Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor Russia on its path to a just and lasting peace:

“Ukraine is part of Europe, and Latvia will continue to support Ukraine’s integration into the EU by providing political and practical support.”

At the meeting, ministers discussed current issues related to Ukraine’s European integration. Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, reported on the reforms implemented over the past year, including in the areas of the rule of law, public administration reform, and the functioning of democratic institutions. Ukraine confirmed its commitment to continuing the progress made on reforms.

The Parliamentary Secretary met with Yevhen Perebyinis, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, to discuss current bilateral relations and participated in a ceremony commemorating fallen Ukrainians at the Lviv Military Cemetery.

After the meeting, Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, and Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, issued a joint statement expressing their determination to promote Ukraine’s European integration by accelerating the reform process.
