Effective 17 August 2026, career diplomat Līga Jermacāne, previous European Correspondent of the Political Director’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on a rotational basis, will begin work with the media as the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Līga Jermacāne has gained experience in matters related to Latvia’s bilateral relations, as well as in security policy and development cooperation. While working at international organisations, including NATO, the Office of the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships, she has promoted Latvia’s interests on the international stage.

The former Press Secretary, Diāna Eglīte, has begun working as the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Latvia to Georgia.
