The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summons a representative of the Russian Embassy in protest against the brutal attacks on Ukraine and the violation of Polish airspace and the building of the MFA

On 11 September 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Latvia and presented him with a note of protest over brutal attacks on Ukrainian civilians and shelling the buildings of Ukrainian public authorities in the past week. In the diplomatic note, the Latvian side reiterates its demand on Russia to cease its aggression against Ukraine, withdraw occupational forces from the entire Ukrainian territory recognized internationally, and compensate for all the loss suffered by Ukraine as a result of Russia’s war of aggression.

Latvia also expressed its strong protest against the violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones on 10 September.

On Sunday, 7 September, more than 800 drones and 13 different types of missiles hit residential buildings, schools, kindergartens and other civilian infrastructure in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. One missile hit a Ukrainian government building. The Russian attack killed two civilians, a young mother and her baby, and at least 16 others were injured. On Tuesday, 9 September, an air strike on the village of Yarova in eastern Ukraine killed 24 civilians waiting in line to collect their monthly pensions, and injured almost twice as many.

By those terrorist acts, Russia is blatantly rejecting international peace efforts to end Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, and also demonstrating that its imperialist and aggressive goals remain unchanged.
