Grant competition for development cooperation projects

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a co-financing grant project competition for 2025, “Support for Development Cooperation and Development (Global) Education Projects Funded by the European Commission and Other International Aid Donors in the Recipient Countries Defined by the Republic of Latvia and in the Republic of Latvia”. Development cooperation projects supporting recipient countries have been identified as a priority for the competition.

Project promoters who have already received funding from other development cooperation providers, including the European Commission, are invited to apply for the implementation of development cooperation and global education projects.

The total funding available for project implementation in 2025 is EUR 50 000. The minimum amount of the grant for one project is EUR 1000. The maximum amount of the grant is up to 90% of the project promoter’s financial resources allocated to the project in 2025.

Priority support will be given to projects:

  • In the Eastern Partnership countries of the EU (particularly Armenia, Moldova, and Ukraine),
  • In Central Asian countries (especially Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan),
  • In support of civil society in Belarus and Georgia,
  • as well as in African countries,
  • development (global) education projects in the Republic of Latvia.

Civil society organisations registered in the Republic of Latvia are eligible to participate in the competition. Project applications must be submitted by 23:59 on 2 November this year. Applications submitted after the specified deadline will not be considered. The electronically signed project application must be sent to the Bilateral Development Cooperation Division at the following e-mail address: granta.konkurss@mfa.gov.lv.

We would like to draw attention to the fact that the maximum number of points in the evaluation of development cooperation projects is 25 points, while in the evaluation of global education projects it is 20 points. In both cases, the minimum number of points required for an application to be deemed eligible for evaluation is 15 points.
