On 3 December 2025, the Civil Dialogue Award 2025 will be presented for the first time in Brussels. Its aim is to evaluate good practices and initiatives of meaningful involvement of civil society organisations in European Union (EU) policy-making. The award will be presented by Civil Society Europe, an organisation representing civil society across the EU.

Latvia has also been nominated for the award – the European Union Co-ordination and Policies Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has been highlighted in the nomination “National administrations involving civil society in EU policy-making”. Facing serious competition, the Department has made it to the top three finalists. The European Union Co-ordination and Policy Department was nominated for the award by the Latvian Women’s NGOs Cooperation Network, one of the most active participants in consultations on EU issues organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs regularly informs its cooperation partners about Latvia’s position on current EU agenda issues, and civil society representatives have the opportunity to express their views and make recommendations for improving Latvia’s position, thus maintaining a dialogue with the civil society representatives involved. Consultations are open to any non-governmental organisation whose activities are related to EU issues falling within the competence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Civil Society Europe brings together 24 European civil society organisation platforms in the EU, promoting public participation and supporting civil initiative activities in various fields.

The organisation was founded in Belgium in 2016 and is one of the EU institutions’ partners in strengthening cooperation with civil society. It brings together several million people.
