The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has evaluated the project applications submitted for the 2026 grant competition “Support for Development Cooperation in Recipient Countries Selected by the Republic of Latvia” and has decided to award funding for the implementation of the following projects in 2026 in the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood, Central Asia, and African countries:
- “Accelerated Renewable Energy Deployment Areas in Ukraine – A Tool for Green Recovery”, by SIA “Estonian, Latvian & Lithuanian Environment”;
- “Human Rights Education – Strengthening Civil Society, Democratic Participation, and the Rule of Law in Eastern Partnership Countries”, by the Baltic Human Rights Society;
- “Empirical Ex-Post Evaluation and Capacity Building for Ukraine’s Governance Reform Strategy”, by the Centre for Public Policy PROVIDUS;
- “SME Digital Development Pilot Programme in Tajikistan”, by the Latvian IT Cluster;
- “Youth for Sustainable Participation – A Latvian-Georgian Cooperation Network and Digital Learning Model for Understanding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG Connect Georgia)”, by the association “Laiks Jauniešiem”;
- “Resilience of Independent Media and Civil Society in Georgia: Support for the Existence of Democratic Voices”, by the Sustainability Fund;
- “Support to the National Standardisation Body of Moldova in Developing an AI-Based Solution for the Translation of Standards”, by VSIA “Latvijas standarts”;
- “Ukraine: Development of a Psychosocial Support System for Women and Children in Kyiv”, by the MARTA Centre;
- “Sisonke Food Centre: Youth Skills Development and Local Food Production in Tsholotsho”, by the Latvian Association of Crayfish and Fish Farmers.
Interest among applicants in participating in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ competition remains high this year, with 54 project applications received. The funding available for the competition in 2026 amounts up to EUR 744,805.
