On 23 January 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a regular meeting of the Working Group for the Coordination of Latvia’s Membership of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), opened and chaired by the Under-Secretary of State for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ivita Burmistre. She thanked the involved institutions and experts for their earlier contributions to the work of the OECD committees; she also updated the participants on current developments in Latvia’s cooperation with the OECD: the spotlight was turned on changes in the regulatory framework defining responsibilities for representing Latvia’s interests in the OECD, the preparation of the annual informative progress report, as well as past and planned high-level OECD representative visits.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the OECD and UNESCO, Andris Pelšs, provided an update on ongoing developments in the OECD Council, including preparations for the annual OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, taking place from 3 June to 4 June and focusing on industrial strategies. Representatives of the institutions participating in the Working Group shared updates on their cooperation with the OECD and current matters concerning the organisation’s committees, working groups, and programmes. Representatives of the Ministry of Economics presented the progress of the OECD Economic Survey for Latvia 2026. Its presentation is scheduled for 12 June this year, marking the ten-year anniversary of Latvia’s accession to the OECD.
