On 15 September 2021, the Head of the Bilateral Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nils Jansons, received a farewell visit from the non-resident Ambassador of Tanzania to Latvia, Willibrod Peter Slaa, who is completing his term in office.

Nils Jansons underlined that Latvia and Tanzania have a good political dialogue. The officials discussed cooperation in economy, international organisations, justice and consular affairs, as well as topics of current importance for the European Union and the African Union. The Tanzanian Ambassador emphasised that Latvia is a good partner and confirmed that the next Ambassador of Tanzania to Latvia will continue promoting cooperation between businesses also under the pandemic.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Latvia and the United Republic of Tanzania were established on 28 November 1997. The Ambassador of Tanzania to Latvia resides in Stockholm, Sweden.
