Warning image from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In light of the current serious escalation of the security situation in the Middle East region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Latvian nationals in Israel to remain in close proximity to bomb shelters and to follow the instructions and announcements issued by local media and authorities regarding developments.

A state of emergency has been declared in Israel, and until further notice, all official institutions, including the Embassy of Latvia, are closed. Israeli airspace has been shut, and regional flights have been suspended in surrounding countries, including Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria. As a result, evacuation is currently not possible. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Latvia to Israel are closely monitoring the situation and remain in constant communication with the European Union and other partner states regarding potential next steps.

If you are currently in the region, you are strongly encouraged to inform your relatives of your safety. Should the need arise, you may contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ emergency helpline at +371 26337711 or email palidziba@mfa.gov.lv.

According to official data, 6,062 Latvian nationals reside in Israel, and three in Iran. At present, 19 Latvian nationals in Israel are registered in the Consular Register. We encourage all Latvian nationals in the region to register by sending their information to konsularais.registrs@mfa.gov.lv.
