Ambassador Marģers Krams, an experienced diplomat, assumes duties as Head of the State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Till August 2025, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Australian Commonwealth.
In the course of his career, Marģers Krams has been posted as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Kingdom of Sweden (2017–2021) and Canada (2007–2011). From 2011 to 2012, he served as Ambassador-at-Large at the European Union Directorate and, from 2012 to 2015, as Foreign Affairs Advisor to the President of Latvia.
Marģers Krams began his diplomatic career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2002 when he was appointed Head of Mission to the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the World Trade Organisation in Geneva, and from 2015 to 2017 – Head of the Bilateral Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassador has been decorated with the Order of the Three Stars, Third Class, as well as receiving awards from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Poland.
Marģers Krams took up the post of Head of the State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 25 August 2025.
