After a two-year interval, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is participating in the Balttour 2023 International Travel Trade Fair taking place at the Ķīpsala Exhibition Centre from 3 to 5 February.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is represented at the fair for the 14th consecutive year.

On the joint stand of the Association of Latvian Travel Agents and Operators (ALTA), the visitors will have the opportunity to meet representatives from the Consular Department and receive valuable travel advice concerning visits abroad and emergency situations. The stand will also offer information on the basic safety principles when travelling with children or visiting exotic countries.

As underlined by the Director of the Consular Department, Agnese Saliņa, the Foreign Ministry employees have been providing assistance to at least one thousand Latvian nationals every year who have found themselves in emergency situations abroad, for instance, losing their travel documents, being injured in accidents, or detained. To avoid problematic situations, it is essential to stay alert when travelling. Responsible preparations are no less important for a worthwhile trip.

For your travel to be successful, the Foreign Ministry invites you to get acquainted with ten safety tips for travellers.

The visitors who have filled out a Safe Travel crossword puzzle will have the opportunity to take part in an instant lottery with a chance to win a prize useful for travel.

The International Travel Trade Fair Balttour is the most important annual event in the Baltic States tourism sector for both travellers and professionals. For further information, see http://www.balttour.lv/
