The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has evaluated the project applications submitted for the 2025 grant competition, “Support for Development Cooperation Projects in recipient countries designated by the Republic of Latvia”, and awards funding (grants) to the following projects to be implemented in Ukraine in 2025 and 2026:
1. “Recovery and growth: building sustainable rehabilitation networks in Ukrainian communities and regions” (4RNetworks in Ukraine), by the “Sustainable Business Support” society;
2. “Ukraine: supporting and empowering war-affected women and children”, by the MARTA Centre;
3. “Development of microsurgery infrastructure in medical institutions in Ukraine”, by the Latvian Microsurgeons Association;
4. “Improving the phytosanitary system in Ukraine” by the State Plant Protection Service of the Republic of Latvia to be implemented in 2024 and 2025;
5. “Support for public administration reform in Ukraine in the context of euorintegration (PAR4UA)”, by the PROVIDUS Public Policy Centre;
6. “Experience sharing between the National Rehabilitation Centre “Vaivari” and Ukrainian medical institutions on the implementation of rehabilitation programmes, assistance provision and the development of a support system in Ukraine”, by VSIA National Rehabilitation Centre “Vaivari”;
7. “Strengthening competitiveness of the Ukrainian SMEs for investment attraction and digitalisation (DIGI-UA)”, by the TechChill foundation;
8. “Trainers’ capacity building programme for women’s economic empowerment through business activity and the EU best practice sharing initiative She Rebuilds the World (SRW, Season 4)”, by the Economic Cooperation and Investments for Latvia (#esiLV) association.
According to the rules of the competition and the total available funding, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is prepared to allocate partial funding for the implementation of a project:
- “Mission CyberKnife Sigulda” – experience sharing between the Radiosurgery Centre Sigulda and the Ukrainian medical institutions on the implementation of oncology programmes, assistance provision and support for the development of an oncological cluster”, by SIA “SRC Sigulda”.
Funding has been approved for the following projects in the Eastern Partnership, Central Asian and African countries in 2025 and 2026:
- “Women’s empowerment in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan”, by the MARTA Centre;
- “Safe food production and export development in Uzbekistan” by the State Plant Protection Service of the Republic of Latvia;
- “Promotion of children’s rights in Moldova through introduction of Latvia’s best practice example – Jimba’s Safety Step programme”;
- “A STEM School in Tanzania” by the Riga TechGirls association;
- “Relevance and accessibility of education and knowledge for the development of the food sector in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan”, by the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies;
- A capacity building project in a public institution, the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service (STICS) of Moldova, “Strengthening Telecom Adaptation and Resilience through Cooperation – STARC”, by SIA Elektroniskie sakari.
According to the rules of the competition and the total available funding, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is prepared to allocate partial funding for the implementation of a project:
- “Enhancing quality of a patient-centred health care system in Uzbekistan”, by VSIA Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital.
The applicants’ interest in participating in the competition announced by the Foreign Ministry remained high this year – 71 applications were received. The total amount made available for the competition in 2025 is 502 537,57 euros for projects in the Eastern Partnership, Central Asian and African countries, and 700,000 euros for projects in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its gratitude to all project applicants for their participation in the competition and appreciates an increasing interest in development cooperation. All project applicants will be informed individually about the results of the assessment of their project.
