On 24 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, and other EU Member State ministers are taking part in the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council in its Trade configuration. The focus of the meeting: EU-United States trade relations; EU-China trade relations; and the ongoing bilateral trade talks, with India in particular.
EU Member State ministers will meet with the US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, and the US Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer.
At the meeting, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden will call for the Commission to put forward a proposal on additional import tariffs on products coming from Russia and Belarus. Russian imports are still posing risks to Europe’s economic security, due to several sectors being dependent on Russia.
The European Commission will present its 2025 annual report on the implementation and enforcement of EU trade policy and the 2025 annual progress report on simplification, implementation and enforcement in the field of trade, customs and economic security.
