Foreign Minister Baiba Braže at the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum: We all are facing similar security challenges and threats posed by authoritarian regimes. Defence capabilities and resilience against hybrid threats must be enhanced

On 21 November 2025, in Brussels, Belgium, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, participated in the 4th European Union Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, including a high-level event on the protection of critical maritime infrastructure. The forum was hosted by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

Foreign Minister Baiba Braže:

“We had an exchange of views with ministers and partners from the EU and the Indo-Pacific region on cooperation in security, economy and new technologies. We all are facing similar challenges to our security and hybrid threats posed by authoritarian regimes, including to undersea critical infrastructure, we have to tackle cyber-attacks and disinformation campaigns.

Our actions must be coordinated and include enhancing defence capabilities and resilience to hybrid threats, as well as strengthening the EU-NATO partnership with Indian-Pacific partners.”

At the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, the Foreign Minister met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. The Philippines, and Indonesia for a discussion on bilateral and plurilateral cooperation in international organisations and Latvia’s priorities for its term of membership of the UN Security council in 2026-2027.
