On 16 March 2026 in Brussels, Belgium, Foreign Minister Baiba Braže will participate in the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

Discussions among the EU Foreign Ministers will focus on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, including:

  • unwaveringly strong and comprehensive support for Ukraine,
  • future pressure policy on Russia,
  • countering Russia’s hybrid threats.

The situation in the Middle East. Ministers will discuss the escalation of the security situation in the Middle East.

The EU Foreign Ministers are scheduled to hold an informal exchange of views on the EU security strategy and cooperation with the EU’s southern neighbors.

To discuss the direction of the EU–India strategic partnership, the EU Foreign Ministers will meet with the Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The Foreign Affairs Council deals with matters relating to external action, including the common foreign and security policy, the European security and defence policy, external trade, and development cooperation. The Council’s main task is to ensure the unity, consistency, and effectiveness of the EU’s external action.
