On 22 and 23 October 2026, Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dace Melbārde will attend an informal meeting of European Union ministers responsible for trade in Dublin, Ireland.
At the meeting, representatives of EU Member States will discuss current issues relating to the EU’s Common Commercial Policy, including its strategic direction, taking into account the interests of Member States and current geopolitical developments.
There will be a broader discussion on the development of EU trade relations with China and the US. Trade ministers will also discuss the EU’s ongoing free trade agreement negotiations with third countries, including Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand, as well as progress towards entry into force of those agreements for which negotiations have been concluded, such as those with India, Indonesia and Mexico. The discussions will assess the significance of these agreements in creating new export opportunities, strengthening Europe’s competitiveness and promoting economic resilience.
