Akreditācijas vēstuli saņem Latvijas vēstniece ANO Sanita Pavļuta-Deslandes

On 27 July 2023 in Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, presented the letter of credence to the next Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the United Nations in New York, Sanita Pavļuta-Deslandes.

Since the beginning of her diplomatic career in 1995, Ms Pavļuta-Deslandes has worked in the West European Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and as Director of the EU Coordination Department. In her capacity of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, she represented Latvia’s interests in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, UNESCO and the French Republic, and the Permanent Representation to the EU. As non-resident Ambassador, she was also accredited to the Kingdom of Morocco and the Principality of Monaco.

Sanita Pavļuta-Deslandes headed the European Affairs Office at the State Chancellery, was the Adviser to the Prime Minister on EU Affairs, and the Personal Representative of the President of Latvia at the International Organisation of La Francophonie.

Since 2021, Ms Pavļuta-Deslandes served as Ambassador-at-Large, Head of Secretariat of Latvia’s Candidacy for the United Nations Security Council.

The Ambassador has been awarded the Order of the Three Stars, the French National Order of Merit and the Certificates of Recognition from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cabinet.

She has graduated from the Latvian Academy of Culture, the University of Provence in France, and the International Relations Department at the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris).

In this ambassadorial posting, Sanita Pavļuta-Deslandes succeeds Andrejs Pildegovičs, who had been representing Latvia’s interests in the UN since 2019.
