On 3 June 2025, the Under Secretary of State, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ivars Lasis, during a visit to Yerevan, Armenia, together with the Political Directors of the Baltic states and Nordic countries (NB8) reaffirmed a joint commitment to strengthening relations and expanding the political dialogue and economic cooperation with Armenia. The officials discussed current developments in Armenia, including the reform and modernisation processes in the country, regional and international topics of current interest, including regional cooperation, the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as relations between Armenia and the European Union.

As part of the visit, meetings were held with the President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, and the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the national Assembly of Armenia.

The NB8 Political Directors will continue their visit on 4–5 June, and go to Azerbaijan.

The visits are organised by Denmark as this year’s coordinator of the NB8 format.

The NB8 (Nordic–Baltic Eight) is a cooperation format comprising Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden. Cooperation between the Baltic states and the Nordic countries has been very close since the beginning of the 1990s when they were active in the N5+B3 framework, which was transformed into the NB8 format in 2007.
