On 7–8 July 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will attend the NATO Summit in Ankara, Türkiye, as part of the Latvian delegation led by President Edgars Rinkēvičs. 

The Minister’s agenda includes participation in the NATO–Ukraine Council meeting at the level of ministers of foreign affairs, which will be attended by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and the EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas. The Minister will also take part in a meeting of foreign ministers from NATO and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative partner countries: Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. 

The Minister will speak at a discussion at the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum titled “Shared Values, Stronger Industrial Base: Expanding Partnerships and Cooperation”. 

Baiba Braže will also participate in high-level discussions on security issues organised by think tanks. As part of the NATO Summit, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, the Munich Security Conference and the think tank Eastern Circles are jointly organising a high-level discussion titled “Shadows in Our Waters: Strategic Agency for Maritime Security,” while the think tank Baltic International Security Center will host a discussion titled “Secret Agency: Why Narva’s Not Next and Other Myths”. 

During the summit, the Minister is scheduled to give several interviews to international media outlets, including Bloomberg, Sky News, the BBC and CNN.
