On 7 December 2021, Bratislava hosted the accreditation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Slovak Republic, Guna Japiņa. In an official ceremony, the Ambassador presented her credentials to the President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová.
Latvia and Slovakia are linked by trustworthy cooperation both bilaterally and in the European Union and NATO. Latvia highly appreciates Slovakia’s significant involvement in the NATO enhanced Forward Presence battle group in Latvia.
The Ambassador of Latvia to Slovakia resides in Vienna, Austria. Guna Japiņa was posted to Vienna on 30 August 2021, succeeding Ambassador Veronika Erte, who had been representing Latvia’s interests in Austria since 2017.
