Support for Ukraine
Humānās palīdzības kravas tiek nosūtītas Ukrainai

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely following requests for humanitarian aid expressed by Ukraine internationally and bilaterally, and organises deliveries in close cooperation with public authorities, civil society organisations and businesses. Fourteen shipments of humanitarian assistance have been delivered to Ukraine until now to offer support for Ukrainian civilians affected by hostilities.

The “Viegli palīdzēt” (Easy to Help) movement, headed by Inese Vaivare, in cooperation with businesses have put together deliveries of essential items, hygiene products, medical supplies, food and clothing donated by companies, which have been sent to Rivne, Odessa and Transcarpathian regions. Aid shipments are also being delivered by a charity organisation, Ziedot.lv, under the leadership of Rūta Dimanta and teaming up with a business initiative, “Uzņēmēji mieram” (Business People for Peace): hygiene products and essential items have been purchased by funds raised by the residents of Latvia and delivered to people in the Kherson and Transcarpathian regions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the network of Latvia’s are involved in communication concerning forwarding of shipments, while the State Firefighting and Rescue Service takes care of the aid being integrated into the European Union’s overall support system. Next civilian humanitarian assistance shipments are being prepared and will be sent off in the next couple of days.

We would like to thank the general public in Latvia – businesses, civil society organisations, institutions and private individuals – for their donations and selfless efforts of helping put together the much-needed deliveries of humanitarian goods so that they could reach civilians in Ukraine afflicted by the war that Russia has unleashed. Let us continue our help to Ukrainian people by contributing through the www.ziedot.lv website or calling the telephone number 90006086 to donate.
