On 24 May 2021, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, had an online meeting with the new non-resident Ambassador of Mongolia, Barkhas Dorj.
State Secretary Pelšs and Ambassador Dorj praised the friendly relations between the two countries and expressed their preparedness to promote political and economic relations between Latvia and Mongolia. They highlighted in particular the cooperation already initiated in transport and higher education. The officials also discussed the provision of mutual support in international organisations and intentions to enhance the legal framework for cooperation.
In 2021, Latvia and Mongolia mark the 30th anniversary of establishing their diplomatic relations.
