Latvia strongly condemns the decision by the illegitimately elected National Assembly of Venezuela and the regime’s executive authorities to declare the Head of the European Union Delegation, Ambassador Isabel Brilhante Pedrosa, as persona non grata, giving her 72 hours to leave the country.
The EU has always advocated dialogue and negotiation as the way of finding a solution to the protracted political crisis in Venezuela. Action taken by Venezuela is regrettably a step in the opposite direction.
It has been underlined in the EU statement that this will only lead to further international isolation of Venezuela.
