On 25 June 2026 in Riga, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will host NATO Deputy Secretaries General Scott Bray, responsible for intelligence and security, and Nick Catsaras, responsible for defence policy and planning.
The meeting follows an agreement between NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and President Edgars Rinkēvičs.
During the meeting, Baiba Braže will brief the high-level NATO representatives on the security situation in the Baltic region, as well as Latvia’s efforts to develop its defence capabilities and strengthen security on NATO’s eastern flank.
Special attention in the talks will be given to securing greater future NATO support for strengthening Latvia’s air defence and anti-drone capabilities. An exchange of views is also planned regarding the upcoming NATO Summit on 7–8 July and the outcomes to be achieved there.
During the meeting, the NATO flag will be raised outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, thereby underscoring NATO’s importance in Latvia’s foreign policy and in strengthening the country’s security.
