On 15 January 2020, the Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, continued his working visit to New Delhi, the capital of India, and took the opportunity to discuss the case of the Latvian citizen, Kristīne Misāne, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Jeppe Kofod. Kristīne Misāne is currently imprisoned in Denmark and Danish authorities are preparing for her possible extradition to the Republic of South Africa.
In a conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Africa, Naledi Pando, Edgars Rinkēvičs proposed signing a mutual legal assistance treaty between Latvia and South Africa as soon as possible.
